We Need Volunteers!

Volunteer must be able to work with a wide variety of women with various backgrounds. Volunteer must have own transportation. Volunteer will assist each guest with signing in at night.  Volunteer must be drug and alcohol-free.   Volunteer must be a female. Minimum age is 25 years old for overnighters and overnighter’s assistants.   

• Volunteers are needed for 8pm-8am overnight shifts. The volunteers will be responsible for signing in guests for the night and assigning chores. Volunteers will enforce shelter rules. Volunteer must ensure that guests abide by house rules. Once the Guests are asleep and settled, the Volunteer is allowed to sleep as well.

• We also need part time volunteers to help the overnighters. An evening and morning volunteer would be wonderful. 8pm-11:15pm to help the volunteer sign the ladies in at night, and monitor the ladies to ensure they are following the house rules. A morning volunteer from 7:30am-9:30am would also be great. This volunteer would help the overnighter get the guests out of the shelter by 8am and relieve her at the same time. The volunteer will do light cleaning and organizing of the shelter until the staff arrives in the morning to lock up.

• Leslie’s House can use a daytime assistant in the office doing clerical work such as answering phones, filing, making copies, and light house cleaning. Women with clerical backgrounds, teens, and retirees will be great candidates. This volunteer would be the only exception to the transportation rule; he or she can use public transportation to get to and from the shelter.
